The UFU Publishing House will showcase seven books in the section “Literary Works of Ukrainian Writers and Poets in Foreign Languages”:
four editions in German and three in French. Among them are Dialoge by Hryhorii Skovoroda, translated by Roland Pietsch; Ausgewählte Dramen by Lesia Ukrainka; the poetry collection Drei Strophen by Dmytro Pavlychko; and the scholarly monograph Taras Ševčenko und die moderne ukrainische Schriftsprache by Michael Moser and Hans Rothe.
The French-language section will feature collaborative publications of the Ukrainian Free University and the Sorbonne dedicated to Lesia Ukrainka, Ivan Franko, and Hryhorii Skovoroda.

The Ukrainian Free University has long been a pioneer in translating works of Ukrainian classical literature into German and French. Through its academic and publishing activity, UFU continuously promotes the visibility of Ukrainian culture and literature in the European intellectual space.

A particular point of pride is the contribution of Irena Katschaniuk-Spiech, one of the most prominent translators of Ukrainian classics into German, who turned 90 this year and continues her active translation and editorial work. Her translations of Lesia Ukrainka, Dmytro Pavlychko, Ivan Franko, and other authors stand out for their depth, stylistic precision, and cultural sensitivity.

UFU’s participation in the Frankfurt Book Fair 2025 continues its long-standing mission — to represent Ukraine as an intellectual and cultural force in Europe, combining tradition, scholarship, and creativity.
